I started making candles in August 2017. I did a lot of research into wax, wick and fragrances.

Having pets, I had to make sure that nothing I made would cause them any harm. This is when I discovered that essential oils can be particularly harmful to our animal friends. This prompted me to research fragrance companies and learn as much as possible. It took months to find the right product and company who share my values.

Following on from this, I decided that I also wanted to make products that were as eco-friendly as possible. This again, took me down a path that was extremely enlightening. Products that you thought should be friendly, were in fact, completely the opposite.

Once I had found the wax I wanted to use and the fragrances that matched my values, I had to research wick. It is not a simple case of one wick fits all.  I had to do months of testing with different ones until I felt that I had the best fit for what I wanted to achieve. I realised at this point that testing would be a continual part of the process.

Having found the right product that supported my values, it was time to think about packaging. Another process that took months. It soon became apparent that if I want to meet all my values, I would have to do it myself. So, I would buy in recycled card and cellophane and hand cut and fold my own boxes. Luckily, I now have a machine that cuts everything for me, however, I still have to assemble them myself.

Fast forward to 2024 and 7 years on, I am proud to say that I have products that are eco-friendly. The wax does not contain any genetically modified ingredients, soy, palm, or paraffin products. It is bio-degradable and vegan friendly. The fragrances are vegan and cruelty free, and the wick are eco wicks which also do the trimming for you.

I am extremely proud that every product has been hand made by me. I have had the opportunity to make advent candles for the church, memorial candles, celebration candles, wedding favours and novelty candles. Making something personalised is an honour and hearing the story behind them is often very emotional.
